Who is G & S?
Over the years, we have grown as a guide service. There's me, Steve, a full-time firefighter/emt for the City of Rhinelander, one of
the founding members of G & S. When I began guiding, it was strictly a reason to be out on the water. Working only 116 days per
year gives me a lot of time for fishing and as a way to justify the expense of so much time on the water to my wife, I began guiding.
It's worked out great, for me and the friends that I've made guiding. I started guiding over 9 years ago, fishing since I was able to
cast a line (which is more years than I care to think about), and a fanatic about it for the last 25 years. For some time now, I've also
been writing a monthly column for Lake-Link, an on-line web magazine, as well as contributing to other publications. I am also a field
tester/pro staff member for Secret Weapon Lures. This patented lure is undoubtedly the finest and most innovative spinnerbait on
the market, bar none! Recently, I also appeared on the "Fishing the Midwest with Bob Jensen" television show. I find television
work to be very fun and I've just begun taping a weekly "Fishing Tips" segment that airs on WJFW/TV 12, the local NBC affiliate here in Rhinelander. It airs on the Saturday night, 10:00 news. Watch it it you want a good laugh!
Also, as a hobby and a way to increase the quality of my fishing tackle, several years ago, I started building custom fishing rods. This hobby has "turned bad", First, friends wanted these fine fishing tools, then word got out and others began clamoring for their own rods. The ensuing result is that I now am marketing the "Steve Huber Signature Series" of fishing rods, 22 different rods that I (and my clients) use for different fishing applications. I haven't had time to build a website that goes into all the details of these rods, but if you've been "hankering" for something different, contact me about building a quality fishing rod for you.
Then we have Gil, my best friend and partner in all things fishing and hunting related. Gil is a very knowledgeable
fisherman/hunter. He's also a patient teacher and a good person to spend a day (days, weeks?) in a boat with. If you can learn, Gil
will take the time to teach you. He's one of the reasons I've become the angler that I am today. Well, when he's kicking your butt fishing,
day in and day out, you either learn something or you get VERY FRUSTRATED. I decided to become a student of the sport and now
it's a dead heat when we're out in the boat together. Gil is a dedicated angler who's a lot of fun to be with. If you can't catch fish
with Gil in the boat with you, they're just not biting.
Because of the volume of repeat business that Gil and I do, I can't guarantee that we're going to be available on the day that you request. But don't worry, we've got that covered as well. We've found some of the best guides in the area to work with us. These "Affiliate Guides" are top notch all the way, with a proven track record of fish finding, quality equipment and "Easy to get along with" personalities. If I can ever get these guys off the water, I'll get pictures and post their mugs on the site as well. (Great, now I've got another project!)
